CEDAR is adding information to the TwinsUK resource, the biggest UK adult twin registry of twins used to study the genetic and environmental causes of age related complex traits and diseases.
TwinsUK It is based at the Department of Twin Research and Genetic Epidemiology at King’s College London, and the MRC Epidemiology Unit, funded by a British Heart Foundation project grant, collaborated with the department on a study of 795 twin pairs.
This is the largest twin study with objectively measured physical activity worldwide, and the data will enable a novel approach to understanding the influence of the environment on people’s physical activity behaviour. Analysis of this aspect of the dataset is being led by CEDAR.
