Southampton Women’s Survey

Southampton Women's Survey logoCEDAR is adding information to the Southampton Women’s Survey (SWS), set up by the MRC Life Course Epidemiology Unit in Southampton to investigate the dietary and lifestyle factors that affect women’s health and the health of their children. The addition of objective physical activity data to the SWS was funded by the MRC Epidemiology Unit in Cambridge.

CEDAR has contributed to the collection of objectively measured physical activity data in both mothers and children, as well as questionnaire-based measures of commonly supposed psychological, social and environmental determinants. We now have access to cleaned data on both four and six year old children to enable assessment of the potential determinants of change in physical activity.
