Moving house in the next six months? Would you like to take part in a new research study?
Researchers from the Universities of Cambridge, East Anglia and Exeter are conducting a research study called Relocation to New Environments (RENEW).
The study aims to find out how moving to a new house affect things such as our physical activity, our health and our well-being. And we’re looking for volunteers from across the UK to take part. To be eligible, you have to be considering moving house within the next 6 months.
What is RENEW about?
There is increasing interest in building healthier and more sustainable neighbourhoods as a way of encouraging people to live healthier lives and tackling carbon emissions. This study will look at aspects of the neighbourhood environment that might make it easier for people to do this. These might include such things as cycle routes, walking paths or access to public open space and recreational facilities. Watch the video below to find out more:
You can read a transcript of this video here.
What will I have to do if I volunteer?
If you agree to take part, you will be asked to fill in a questionnaire about your levels of physical activity and general health and wellbeing, how you travel for work and for leisure, and your perceptions of the neighbourhood you live in. You may also have the opportunity to wear a physical activity monitor and a GPS monitor (which we use to measure how much you travel) for one week, although not everyone will be asked to do this. Once you have completed a survey pack, you will receive a £10 Love2Shop voucher as a thank you for taking part.
We may also ask you to suggest some of your current neighbours who you think might also be interested in taking part. The study is completely voluntary and you can withdraw from taking part at any time you wish.
What do I need to do next?

All the information you provide to them will be treated in the strictest confidence and will only be used for research purposes.
